Miami! Miami! Why Wynwood is a must-see!

Updated: Sep 30, 2019

Hey y'all!

We recently took a trip down to South Florida to the Miami area for a little work and play. I had some projects I needed to tend to, and JC has never really gotten to explore the city so we tried to sight-see in the evenings. One place that I now love in Miami is the Wynwood area.

If you've never visited Miami, you probably think South Beach is where you should go, BUUUUUT in recent years the city has really boomed and there's so much more to see than just South Beach. Wynwood is probably my favorite area as it's Miami's Art District. It has these insanely cool mural walls and tons of craft breweries, cool art shops, delicious restaurants, and just an overall really cool vibe. There are definitely more places to go in Wynnwood, but I'll cover just a few in this post. Wynwood Walls might be the main reason why you come here, but definitely stay for the food, atmosphere and drinks!

Wynwood Walls is my number one cool thing to see and do in this neighborhood! It's an outdoor destination featuring huge, colorful street murals by artists from around the globe. It also has a few indoor exhibits and a restaurant/bar. I would highly recommend checking this out if you're in the area as it's really neat to see, free, and open late into the night!

In terms of restaurants in Wynwood, we went to Coyo Taco, which is this tiny taco shop that has some really good food and delicious churros! I have also been to SuViche, which was so tasty- I'd highly recommend and go back like tomorrow!

For bars, there are lots to choose from. Everyone loves Gramps, but I also went to the Miami Mojito Company with some girlfriends a few months ago. They literally make the sugar cane in front of you and it's truly authentic. It's really very cool. Just beware, from the outside you would never know the tiny tiki hut is back there, it says La La Land on the gate out front and you need to walk past the giant gorilla statue in the entry. Once you're in, you may never want to leave!

These are just a few, definitely wander around the area and stop into whatever restaurant or bar you might find- I'm sure it'll be good!
